Combining ODBC and web service data on Crystal report?

    Hi

I've created a custom report (based on POPOR04.RPT as template) through Crystal Reports to include a new field sourced from a web service in addition to fields sourced from the SAMINC database. The datapipe options are disabled in *.ini config files.

The report works fine when previewed from within CR but when I call the report from Accpac (as part of PO Entry | Post | Print workflow), it fails with error dialog popup "Description: Crystal Reports Error: Logon failed." The report works fine when the web service-sourced field is removed.

Are there additional settings needed to make a distributed arch. report work from Accpac?

    Thanks in advance,

    Lance

Use a subreport for the non Accpac data.

I'm already using a sub-report for the web service result, it's the only way I'm able to link the database fields with the web service input parameters.

Is there anything in particular that needs to be configured for the sub-report to work when called outside of CR?

Typically no, but Accpac could be replacing your subreport datasource and that is why you are getting the error.

One step further; the web service was defined in both the sub-report and main-report. I've removed it from the main report and no longer get the "Logon failed" message.

The UI now crashes with message "Runtime Error! Program: c:\afw\runtime\A4WCONTAINERXP.EXE" (I'm running on XP Pro SP2 for this test)
