Trouble with Recurring entries
Help!! We're looking for someone who might know why when we process our recurring G/L entries, if there is an open batch being used by another user, the recurring entry batch attaches itself to it, causing us to have to delete/re-enter.
Thanks all!

Re: Trouble with Recurring entries
That's unusual. What version and service pack of GL?

Re: Trouble with Recurring entries
On the Create Recurring Entries Batch screen, change the Method to "Create a new batch".

Re: Trouble with Recurring entries
That works for new ones - THANK YOU!! :) do you know how to modify existing ones to do this? Ours have been in place forever, and some users are nervous about re-entering these. If, however, that's the only choice...we'll get it done.

I don't understand. Those batches are long since posted, aren't they? There's nothing to re-enter.

Re: Trouble with Recurring entries
We use the scheduling feature which brings up a list of recurring entry batches - which we can select all at the same time and choose to 'process'. It doesn't appear that we can modify an existing schedule/recurring entry, rather we must exit the screen from the scheduler and process each recurring entry manually in order to choose this 'create new batch' option - is that correct?

Re: Trouble with Recurring entries
I read the documentation, and couldn't find anything specific about this. Apparently, the scheduler wants to use the default option, which is to append to an existing batch with the same run date. To prevent this, before you run the periodic process, mark any open batches as "ready to post", then set them back to open after the recurring batch is created.

Re: Trouble with Recurring entries
Great! Seeing as you're the expert :=) you wouldn't happen to know if there is a place where I could change this default? Thanks again Jay!

No, I don't. In the last 10 years that I've been using Accpac, this is the first time I've heard of the issue.

Re: Trouble with Recurring entries
Thank you again - you've helped us tremendously!! I'm thinking there must be a way to change this default, however, for now, you've solved our problem making me look like a hero! :) cheers

Re: Trouble with Recurring entries
The only way the default processing will change is if the programmers make a change. Otherwise all GL recurring entry codes will go into the same generated batch if you run the process from the reminder list. You can request a change to the default process in Ideascope.
