    Could not open the UI

    Using Accpac 5.3 on SQL server 200 with XP workstations.  Some PCs connect to Accpac using XP Remote Desktop or Terminal services client.

    Suddenly, accpac connection through remote desktop connection is having a problem.  Connection works fine and Accpac is opened.  However, when we try to open any function it doesn't want to do so with the following error :

    "Could not open the UI.

    The system may be busy because another application (such as a data conversion application) has locked the company's database. Otherwise, the UI was not opened becaused an unexpected error has occured".

    Can you please help.

    Have you tried looking through KB 20413?  I don't really have an explanation for why it suddenly stopped working, but hopefully one of the suggestions in that KB will resolve the issue.

    Tried to run workstation setup, then Regacc.exe.  However, when regacc starts to run, the following error message is displayed :

    "Register Accpac Programs:RegAcc.exe - Unable to Locate Componet.

    This application has failed to start because w3dbav80.dll was not found.  Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

    When I press OK, the application continues to run and the Regacc log is created stating that all components were successfully registered.

    Ignore that error message, that's a DLL for the DB2 database you're not using.  Your problem is still elsewhere.

     I am getting the same error

    Why is there no solution for this problem in a forum owned by sage accpac??

    There are several causes for this problem, 99% of the time related to improper system manager and network setup.


    1. Did it used to work?  If so, what changed on the network?

    2. What's your version, service packs, database, and general OS and deployment?

    I have deployed in on a local windows xp machine.

    Installed version is 5.4A.

    It used to run fine until a few hours ago. Nothing has changed in the network or DB. I remember having run  a sample vb code to session open and search for a customer.

    This is so retarded.

    Is there anywork around that anyone knows about.

    1. Version 5.4A which service packs?

    2. Database?

    3. Did you try rebooting?

    4. What other programs are installed along with Accpac, like virus checkers?
