Years ago I made the decision to replace the grass in my front and back yards with ground covers like ivy and periwinkle, mostly because I was tired of mowing. Besides, I live in a surburban townhouse, I have more square feet of carpet to vacuum then yard to mow.
Now I'm convinced I made the right decision. Recent studies have proven that one of the primary pollutants in the Chesapeake Bay is excess fertilizer runoff from lawns. So, do your environment a favor, replace your lawn with something greener.
